Jen Scaturro & MaryAnne Marino

I’ve had the great pleasure of making friends with two incredibly talented musicians, Jen Scaturro and MaryAnne Marino. I met them both while profiling MaryAnne for the Staten Island Advance newspaper. I interviewed her before a performance at (where else?) the Living Room. It turns out she is as nice as she is talented. Jen was backing MaryAnne that night along with guitarist Thad DeBrock. Jen apparently plays every instrument ever made and that night played about three or four. MaryAnne has written some incredible songs and recorded a full-length album with producer Peter Zizzo that unfortunately is yet to be released, but you can hear full tracks on-line at her site and on her Myspace page. Jen performs and records as “I Am Jen” and her incredibly catchy electronic ditties have taken up permanent residence inside my brain. Her site also has a bunch of tracks to listen to.
The thing I like about these two talented women is that they appear to be great friends and collaborators. M will likely influence J to bring some more organic qualities to her already great electronic production and J’s pop sense can only help M.
These ladies are a force to be reckoned with, so watch out world!
